Glass Off
Last updated: 4 October 2026
Glass Off is a free surf forecast app made by Josep Sensarrich (pepethedev), an independent developer. This policy explains, in plain terms, what the app does and does not do with information.
The app saves the following on your device, and nowhere else:
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. If you have Android's automatic backup enabled, your system may copy this data to your own Google Drive account, where it is governed by Google's terms, not ours.
The app has to ask for forecasts and map tiles over the internet. We run no server of our own: your phone talks directly to these services, which therefore see your device's IP address and the coordinates you are looking at:
We never receive those requests and we keep no record of them. We have no way of knowing which spots you look at.
Alerts are off by default and you turn them on spot by spot. When you do, your phone checks the forecast by itself and shows the notification locally. Nothing is sent from a server and we are not involved. Android will ask for notification permission the first time you enable an alert, and you can revoke it at any time in your system settings.
INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to download forecasts and map tiles.POST_NOTIFICATIONS — only if you turn on alerts. The app does not ask for your location. When you want a forecast for a place, you search for it or tap it on the map.
The app sends nothing to us. This website, where you are reading this, does count visits — anonymously and without cookies, using Vercel Web Analytics. It records which page you opened, where you arrived from, your country and city, and your browser and device type. It sets no cookies, it cannot identify you, and it cannot follow you to any other site: the visitor identifier is a hash of the request that is discarded after 24 hours. We use it only to know whether anyone is finding Glass Off. Vercel's documentation sets out exactly what it stores.
If you contact us by email, we receive your address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you and to improve the app, we never share it, and we do not add it to any mailing list.
Glass Off is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, whatever their age.
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to give you access to, correct or delete. To remove everything the app has saved, uninstall it or clear its data from your phone's app settings. If you have written to us by email and want that correspondence deleted, ask and we will delete it.
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with its date. If a change ever affected how data is handled, it would be announced in the app's release notes as well.
